DOUBLE THE NUMBER OF HABITATS

What we want to do

Increasing the size of Zoo New York means more opportunities for our dedicated mission of conservation and education. Bringing animals like moose and bison means the people of Northern New York would have the opportunity to learn about these majestic creatures up close. Imagine harbor seals swimming in a large habitat with underwater viewing just like you would see at the Boston Aquarium, but right here in upstate New York!

The addition of a ropes adventure course on top of Thompson park would allow people of all ages to get up close and personal with many of our wonderful New York trees. Bringing people from all over the state to come and enjoy all of the wonderful things we have to offer!

It's time to turn Zoo New York into everything it was always meant to be. To polish the gem on top of Thompson Park and let it shine across the entire state. Generating new opportunities for education, conservation and community. While helping drive tourism into Jefferson County and beyond.

For over 101 years there’s been a zoo at the top of Thompson Park in Watertown. But after all these years, it's time to talk about where we’re going. With the cost of everything rising, this won't always be sustainable.

We have to secure the future of this gem on top of the park or risk losing it. For the first time in a LONG time, we have a plan to expand and update and become what we were always meant to be. A place for future generations to learn and grow. We can do this but we have to do it together!
