“Creating a multipurpose space where we are able to combine education with simple function was our main goal. We wanted to provide a space that zoo visitors could enjoy, while also making long term improvements that would benefit the animals who reside here, while at the same time increase our financial sustainability. The Children’s Farm was a greatly missed portion of our zoo and we are glad to have it back and running.” Said Zoo New York Executive Director and CEO, Lawrence Sorel. 

The Children’s Farm renovation was made possible thanks to contributions from community members including Jakes Lawn Care, Jefferson County Community College Zoo  Technology students, Igo To The Farm, Cross Island Farms, and Senator Patty Ritchie who secured the grant that enabled to project to come to fruition.
